| The advance of online shopping software technology | | Posted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 1:31:46 PM by Rose Martins | Online shopping is definitely the trend of the future. There is nothing today that can't be bought online. There are online malls and stores selling everything from groceries to gifts, to clothing, to electronics and everything else imaginable.
There are also a lot of bargains and discounts to be had at online shopping malls and stores. Finding the best deal might mean a bit of comparison shopping, but sometimes the extra time and effort can really be worthwhile.
Bargains and discounts are not always relating to the actual product, but sometimes there are savings to be had in shipping and insurance costs. Many online stores also offer discount vouchers that can be redeemed on certain purchases, or that offer a free gift with a certain purchase or amount spent.
Software development companies are continuously launching updates and new advances in online shopping technologies, making the experience more simple and convenient for the online shopper.
The new online shopping software also simplifies the behind-the-scenes process for the online shopping company, with new developments that calculate and speed up processes of online shoppers.

| | | Online Shopping: Did You Pay The Sales Tax? | | Posted Sunday, December 17, 2006 1:14:59 PM by Blog57 Team | | Leslie Andrews does most of her shopping online. "I wasn't aware of that at all. So it's our responsibility to fill out a form? No I didn't know that." And chances are, if you shop online, you didn't know either. It's called the consumer use tax and when you buy merchandise online or through a catalog and the seller does not collect sales tax, by law, you must file and pay a use tax on that merchandise. Erin Schablik says she tries to avoid the sales tax. "I've made sure that I don't buy things that are in Tennessee, because 9.25% is kind of hefty. I think that's bogus, I'm not gonna do that." According to the Tennessee Department of Revenue, most people don't. Since January 1, 2006, 1,918 consumer use tax returns have been filed. "I'd like to know how much they enforce that," says Andrews.... | |

| | | Online: have a safe shopping season | | Posted Sunday, November 19, 2006 1:09:55 PM by Blog57 Team | | It's that time of year -- shopping season. And more of us will be doing it online. The Better Business Bureau advices that you stick with "reputable merchants." To help you find them, the BBB offers a searchable online database (www.bbb.org) with reliability reports on more than two million retailers and businesses across the United States and Canada. The BBB says that shoppers can also look for Web sites that display a BBBOnLine trustmark, which indicates the retailer meets high standards for good online business practices. Here are some tips for the BBB for online shoppers: Is your computer protected? Make sure your computer is equipped with updated spam filters, anti-virus and anti-spyware software and a secure firewall. Check for and install any new security updates for the programs on your computer and its operating system. Are you in the right frame of mind? You can shop with speed and ease on the Internet, but you still need to shop smart. If you're tired or distracted, you may want to postpone your online shopping expedition until you can be fully cyber-“aware." Do you trust the merchant? To check on the seller's reputation, look for feedback comments from other customers or conduct Web searches.... | |

| | | Helpful tips for online holiday shopping | | Posted Tuesday, November 14, 2006 7:36:29 AM by Blog57 Team | | The Internet is expected to play a bigger role than ever before when it comes to holiday shopping this year. Experts believe shoppers will buy a fourth of their gifts online this year. But while logging on is convenient, there can also be risks if you're not careful. Amazon.com and Ebay are frequently visited sites, especially during the holiday season. If you do plan on buying online, here are some tips you should keep in mind. Know who you're dealing with. If you're buying gifts on an online auction site that provides a feedback forum, check the track record of the seller before you bid. Look for signs that online purchases are secure. A lock icon will appear on the website telling you the transaction is secure. Pay the safest way. It's best to use a credit card, especially when you're buying something that will be delivered later, because under federal law you can dispute the charges if you don't get what you're promised.... | |

| | | Online shoppers beware | | Posted Monday, November 13, 2006 3:43:04 AM by Blog57 Team | | Frank Zito rarely sets foot in a store to do his holiday shopping. The 25-year-old banker, who lives in Orlando, prefers the Internet because it's easier and more convenient. But he won't soon forget what happened after one of his virtual shopping trips a couple of years ago. "I ordered something from the Web site of a company I really didn't know," Zito said, "and almost immediately, like a day later, I was bombarded with all these e-mails from companies wanting me to 'update my account information' -- and I didn't even have accounts with them." He deleted the fraudulent "phishing" e-mails -- so-called because they're sent by Internet thieves "fishing" for people's personal financial information, which they can then exploit by using it to make illegal purchases or steal the victims' money.... | |

| | | Online shopping - it's click or miss | | Posted Friday, November 10, 2006 7:27:44 PM by Blog57 Team | | Our tolerance for waiting in the supermarket checkout queue doesn't appear to extend to shopping on the internet. According to a new report on consumer behaviour, four seconds is the longest that online shoppers are prepared to wait for a site to load before backing out of the transaction. The report - commissioned by JupiterResearch and carried out by web services company Akamai - surveyed 1058 online shoppers on their buying habits. It found that the average shopper will abandon an online store if forced to wait more than four seconds for pages to load. In fact, website loading times were found to be second only to high product prices and shipping costs as the leading determinants of online shopper dissatisfaction.... | |
